Byzantine Necklace – Fine – Argentium Silver
Description
This Byzantine Necklace is made in the smallest and most intricate 20-3 weave. Each jump ring is cut from Argentium silver wire, then linked one at a time to build the dense, flexible chain. The result is a bright, flowing necklace that feels smooth and strong.
Design & Feel
The 20-3 pattern refers to the 20-gauge wire and 3 mm ring diameter. Together, they form a compact chain with a width of 4.5 mm. Because of its close weave, the necklace lies comfortably on the neck yet holds its shape well. It shows both strength and precision.
Making Process
We hand-cut every ring to keep quality consistent. Then, using pliers, we weave the chain link by link until the classic Byzantine pattern appears. The process takes time and focus, but the result is worth it. The movement of the finished chain feels fluid while the design stays balanced.
Argentium Heat & Finish
After the chain is woven, I heat-treat it to form the germanium oxide layer that strengthens Argentium 940. This step protects the silver and slows tarnish. Once cooled, the surface is polished for brightness and clarity.
