Description
This Lunar Collar Necklace combines natural Turquoise with sculpted Argentium silver. Each collar begins as molten silver that I shape with a jeweller’s pick until the surface resembles the texture of the Moon. As the metal cools, I refine the shape, polish the high points, and add a soft curve so the piece rests smoothly against the neckline.
Design & Feel
The design feels strong, luminous, and balanced. The lunar texture reflects light like the moon’s surface, while the vibrant Turquoise adds an earthy calm. The solid handmade Argentium chain supports the collar perfectly. Because of its structure, the necklace sits evenly and feels comfortable while worn.
Argentium Heat & Finish
I heat-treat the silver to activate the germanium oxide layer that defines Argentium 940. This process increases hardness and slows tarnish. After heat-treating, I polish the raised areas to a bright silver tone while leaving the lunar textures deeper and soft. As a result, the collar keeps its clarity and dimension.
About the Stone
This natural freeform Turquoise gemstone is bezel-set by hand. I use fine silver (999) for the bezel sides and heavy Argentium silver (940) for the base to secure the setting. The vivid blue-green tones of the Turquoise complement the silver’s lunar texture, creating a powerful yet graceful centerpiece.
