Turquoise Pendant – Argentium Silver Wax Seal – Antique
Description
Each melted boulder – also called a “wax seal” – is handmade from Argentium silver. I melt the metal until it is soft but not fluid, then use a jeweller’s pick to shape and move the silver. This creates the uneven edges and rich texture that define the design.
Design & Feel
The form feels solid and strong, with a calm balance between metal and stone. The antique patina darkens the surface and highlights the raised edges. Because of this, the pendant carries both weight and light, showing the natural character of the silver.
Argentium Heat & Finish
Because this pendant is made with Argentium silver, I heat-treat it to activate the germanium oxide layer. This process strengthens the metal and slows tarnish. After the heat work, I apply a permanent antique finish that never needs polishing.
About the Stone
This solid, natural Turquoise weighs 13.5 carats and is cut in a freeform cabochon. The colour ranges from soft sky blue to deep ocean tones, showing natural variations across the surface. I hand-make and solder the bezel to fit the stone, refine the form, and attach the bail before sealing the patina.
