Ammonite Pendant – Argentium Silver Wax Seal – Antique
Description
Each melted boulder – also called a “wax seal” – is handmade from Argentium silver. I melt the metal until it is soft but not fluid, then shape it with a jeweller’s pick to create the ancient-seal texture. Every pendant forms slightly differently, so each one develops its own character.
Design & Feel
This piece has a grounded, natural strength. The antique patina settles into the surface, deepening shadows and brightening raised edges. As a result, the form feels calm, balanced, and timeless.
Argentium Heat & Finish
Because this pendant is made with Argentium silver, I heat-treat it to activate the germanium oxide layer. This step strengthens the silver and slows tarnish. Afterward, I apply a permanent antique finish that enhances the texture and never needs polishing.
About the Stone
This natural Ammonite from Alberta, Canada, weighs 1.5 carats and is cut in a square shape. Its warm earth tones complement the silver surface. I hand-make the bezel for each gemstone, solder it to the base, and refine the finish before adding the bail.
