Storing your jewellery
Store your jewellery in a small plastic bag or a tarnish-resistant jewellery box when you are not wearing it. Although Argentium Silver resists tarnish better than traditional sterling, it can still react with sulphur in the air. Therefore, dry storage helps slow this process.
Humidity can also increase tarnish. For example, homes in humid climates, near the ocean, near mills, or with many indoor plants may notice silver darkening more quickly. For this reason, keep jewellery in a dry, enclosed space when not wearing it.
Avoid damp areas. Do not store jewellery in the bathroom.
Wear your jewellery often. When silver touches your skin, light tarnish can gently rub away. In addition, normal washing in the shower helps keep it clean.
Put your jewellery on last
Apply hairspray, lotion, sunscreen, and makeup first. These products can leave residue and dull the surface. Gemstones can also collect buildup.
When you are fully ready to go, then put your jewellery on.
Reducing surface scratches
Like all fine metals, silver can develop fine surface scratches over time. These light marks are normal and form gradually with wear. However, activities such as gardening, exercising, or rough movement can increase scratching.
For best results, remove your jewellery before physical activity. Also remove chains and earrings before sleeping to prevent bending or tangling.
Travelling with jewellery
Store each piece in its own plastic bag when travelling. This keeps items from rubbing together. As a result, you reduce scratches and tangling during transport.
