Freeform Circle Necklace – Argentium Silver, Copper, and Brass
Description
This Freeform Circle Necklace combines Argentium silver, copper, and brass in a series of fused, open links. I shape each metal into irregular circular forms, then melt Argentium silver across the surface to bind the metals together. Each link forms differently during fusing, so every necklace has its own rhythm and variation.
Design & Feel
The necklace wears like a collar, sitting close to the neckline. The mixed metals create a warm, shifting tone — copper adds depth, brass brings golden highlights, and silver reflects bright light through the design. The soft links give flexibility and movement, while the adjustable copper chain allows the necklace to be worn at 16″, 18″, or 20″.
Argentium Heat & Finish
I heat-treat each fused section to form the protective germanium oxide layer unique to Argentium 940. This process strengthens the silver and slows tarnish. After cooling, I polish the raised surfaces while keeping the deeper areas slightly matte, giving natural contrast and depth.
Size & Weight
• Necklace Length: adjustable 16″–20″ (40.6–50.8 cm)
• Main Section: 9.5 cm long x 3.0 cm deep
• Weight: 12.5 grams
Materials & Care
Made from Argentium 940 silver, solid copper, and brass. This combination gives the necklace balance, warmth, and durability. Copper and brass will naturally darken over time; to restore brightness, polish gently with a soft cloth or use fresh lime. Sealed or patinated sections should not be cleaned.
