Copper Patina Earrings – Hollow Teardrop
I cut each teardrop from solid copper sheet. Then I emboss texture to create depth and direction. After that, I add a centre cut-out for detail and lightness. Finally, I gently dome the shape to give it lift.
Next, I apply a blue patina by hand. Because patina develops naturally, each pair will vary slightly. Once the colour reaches the right tone, I seal the surface with lacquer to preserve the finish.
The open centre reduces weight. Meanwhile, the curved teardrop keeps the form balanced. As a result, the earrings feel light yet grounded.
Shiny copper is not coated and will naturally tarnish over time. If you prefer a bright finish, use a polishing cloth or fresh lime to restore the shine. However, antique copper is permanently antiqued and does not require polishing. Patinated copper is sealed and should not be cleaned.
