Ametrine Pendant – Argentium Silver Rapids – 24.4 Carats
Description
This Ametrine Pendant features a rare gemstone that joins the purple of Amethyst with the golden hue of Citrine. Ametrine forms naturally when a shift in the mineral content occurs inside a geode, allowing both crystals to grow together. This gemstone, mined in Bolivia, weighs 24.4 carats and is cut in a long rectangle that shows a perfect blend of the two colours.
Design & Feel
I created the pendant using solid Argentium silver shaped in the Rapids pattern. To form this texture, I melt and move small pieces of silver until they flow together like fast-moving water. The bright silver contrasts beautifully with the gemstone’s natural colour shift, creating both movement and balance. Each pendant forms uniquely during the melting process, giving every piece its own rhythm and form.
Argentium Heat & Finish
I heat-treat the pendant to develop the germanium oxide layer that defines Argentium 940 silver. This step strengthens the surface and protects it from tarnish. The silver keeps its bright tone with only an occasional wipe using a soft cloth.
