Fluorite Pendant – Argentium Silver Wax Seal – Antique Finish
Description
Each Fluorite Pendant begins as solid Argentium silver that I melt and shape while it is still hot. Using a jeweller’s pick, I move the softened silver to form the uneven texture of a traditional wax seal. After the metal cools, I smooth the edges and prepare the surface for the gemstone.
Design & Feel
For this pendant, I chose a square-cut Fluorite to complement the molten texture. The gemstone’s shifting tones of green and violet contrast beautifully with the antique silver. I handcraft the bezel for each stone, solder it to the base, and then attach the bail. After shaping and polishing, I apply a permanent patina to deepen the detail and balance the design.
Argentium Heat & Finish
I heat-treat the silver to activate the germanium oxide layer that strengthens Argentium 940. This process hardens the surface and slows tarnish. The antique finish is permanent and never needs polishing — a quick wipe with a soft cloth is enough for care.
