Lunar and Sun Pendant – Argentium Silver – Antique
Description
The Lunar design is one of my favourite textures. Each pendant is handmade, not cast, so no two are ever the same. I melt Argentium silver and, when it reaches the right temperature, shape it with a pick to resemble the surface of the Moon.
Design & Feel
For this pendant, I formed a smooth silver circle for the Sun base, then soldered the Lunar-textured panel to the hollow Sun. The contrast between the two surfaces gives the piece both energy and calm. The large bail allows it to be worn on a heavy chain, a leather thong, or even a collar.
Argentium Heat & Finish
Because this pendant is made with Argentium silver, I heat-treat it to activate the germanium oxide layer. This step strengthens the metal and slows tarnish. Afterward, I apply a permanent antique finish that deepens the texture and never needs polishing.
