Mountain Landscape Necklace – Argentium Silver Skimmerhorns
Description
This Mountain Landscape necklace, titled Skimmerhorns, is handmade from solid Argentium silver. I melt the silver until it reaches a workable state just before liquid. While the metal is still hot, I shape it with a jeweller’s pick to form peaks and valleys. I then sand the base into a gentle curve and fuse it with the rings that hold the chain. Each pendant is made by hand, not cast, so every mountain range is unique.
Design & Feel
The LAND design group reflects strength and stability. In this piece, raised peaks and shallow valleys create depth across the surface. Although the form remains compact, the texture gives the necklace a grounded, sculptural presence. Because the landscape develops naturally during shaping, no two pieces look the same.
Argentium Heat & Finish
After shaping the landscape, I heat-treat the pendant to activate the germanium oxide layer in Argentium silver. This step increases hardness and slows tarnish. I then refine the surface so the peaks and valleys stay clearly defined with a clean, lasting finish.

• Pendant length: approx. 3.8 cm (1.50 in)
• Pendant width: approx. 1.2 cm (0.47 in)

Materials & Care
This pendant is made in Argentium Silver 940. Argentium silver is brighter and harder than traditional sterling. In addition, it is nickel-free and slower to tarnish.
