Mountain Pendant – Argentium Silver Wax Seal – Antique
Description
Each Mountain Pendant starts as a wax seal base made from molten Argentium silver. I heat the metal until it softens, then move it with a jeweller’s pick to form an organic, uneven surface. When the silver cools, I smooth the edges and shape the base for the mountain detail.
Design & Feel
I begin the mountain design by sketching real mountain ranges to scale. Then I cut and shape square Argentium wire to form the peaks and valleys. I fuse the wires together, polish the ridges, and solder the range onto the wax seal base. After that, I attach a sturdy bail for strength and balance. The antique finish brings dark contrast to the deep textures and adds warmth to the silver. Every pendant turns out slightly different, so each one has its own character.
Argentium Heat & Finish
I heat-treat the silver to activate the germanium oxide layer that defines Argentium 940. This step strengthens the surface and slows tarnish. The antique finish is permanent and never needs polishing. Simply wipe it with a soft cloth to maintain the glow and contrast.
