Citrine Pendant – Argentium Silver Mountain Wax Seal – Antique Finish
Description
Each Citrine Pendant begins with a handmade wax seal base, what I call a “melted boulder.” I heat solid Argentium silver until it softens, then shape it with a jeweller’s pick to create the uneven surface of a traditional wax seal. Once cooled, the base becomes the foundation for the raised mountain design.
Design & Feel
For the mountain details, I sketch a mountain range to scale, then cut and form pieces of square Argentium wire to follow the peaks and valleys. These are fused together, polished, and sweat-soldered to the wax seal base. The brilliant-cut Citrine adds warmth and glow to the textured landscape. The combination of bright stone and darkened silver gives the pendant a grounded yet radiant look.
Argentium Heat & Finish
After assembly, I heat-treat the pendant to activate the germanium oxide layer in the Argentium 940. This strengthens the surface and improves tarnish resistance. The antique finish is then applied permanently and never needs polishing — just an occasional wipe with a soft cloth.
