This Sun and Moon pendant features a 0.5 carat solid Australian Opal set at the centre of a celestial frame. The circular form represents the moon, while the outer ring reflects the sun’s radiance. The natural Opal brings shifting colour and light to the balanced silver structure.
Design & Feel
The pendant feels light yet defined. The smaller scale keeps it refined and easy to wear. Because the Opal is oval cabochon cut, the surface remains smooth and luminous. As a result, the piece carries quiet glow rather than sharp sparkle.
About the Opal
This is a solid Australian Opal, not a doublet or triplet. The 0.5 carat stone shows natural flashes of blue, green, and subtle fire. Light moves gently across the surface, revealing colour from within.
Argentium Heat & Finish
Because this pendant is made with Argentium silver, I heat-treat the piece to activate the germanium oxide layer. This treatment increases hardness and slows tarnish. After heat treatment, I refine the bezel and polish the silver for clarity and shine.

I form the circular sun ring first and prepare the bezel for the Opal. After soldering and shaping, I heat-treat the silver for strength. Finally, I set the Opal carefully and polish the pendant to a clean finish.
