Pearl Blister Pendant – Argentium Silver Full Moon
Description
This Mabe’ Pearl Blister Full Moon pendant is one of my largest pieces. I melt Argentium silver and shape it directly with a jeweller’s pick to create a Lunar surface. As the metal cools, I smooth and polish the raised areas so they catch the light like moonlight against the night sky.
Design & Feel
The design feels calm and balanced. At the centre, a large blister pearl rests on the Lunar surface and glows softly against the silver. Because of its size, the pendant has a strong presence. It pairs especially well with a collar or Omega chain. However, it can also be worn longer for a more relaxed, flowing look.
Argentium Heat & Finish
I heat-treat the silver to activate the germanium oxide layer that defines Argentium. This step strengthens the surface and slows tarnish. After heating, I polish the edges so they reflect light. At the same time, I leave the recessed texture deep and soft. As a result, the contrast adds quiet depth to the piece.
About the Stone
A blister pearl grows inside the shell and remains attached to the mother of pearl. Because it never separates, I can shape and polish it while preserving its natural glow. This oval pearl shows a warm tone and gentle shine. I set it firmly onto the silver panel to create a full moon effect.
Size & Weight
• Length: 7.3 cm (2.87 in)
• Width: 5.9 cm (2.32 in)
• Weight: 41.3 g
• Gemstone: natural Mabe’ blister pearl, oval cabochon
• Chain: 1.5 mm sterling silver Omega, 18 in length
Fit & Sizing
The pendant sits flat on the chest. The Omega chain holds it steady and centred. In addition, the smooth back and gentle curve make it comfortable to wear throughout the day.
Materials & Care
This pendant is made in Argentium Silver 940. Argentium silver is brighter and harder than traditional sterling. In addition, it is nickel-free and slower to tarnish.
