Smoky Quartz Ring – Size 13 – Argentium Silver Octagon Double-Band – 4.5 Carat
🔨 STRUCTURE DESIGN
I build this octagon double-band ring from two solid Argentium silver bands. Between them, I bezel-set a square-cut smoky quartz. The octagon shape gives the ring a strong outline, while the open space between the bands keeps the design clean and deliberate.
I tuck the natural smoky quartz securely between the bands. This structure supports the stone while keeping the profile crisp and architectural.
Design & Feel
The octagon form feels bold and precise. At the same time, the double-band design spreads weight across the finger. As a result, the ring feels stable and comfortable despite its strong geometry.
Argentium Heat & Finish
Because this ring is made with Argentium silver, I then heat-treat the piece to activate the germanium oxide layer. This treatment raises hardness and slows tarnish. After the heat work, I set the gemstone and give a final polish for clarity and shine.
About the Stone
Smoky quartz has a grounded, earthy tone that pairs well with structured silver designs. In addition, the square cut reinforces the clean geometry of the octagon setting. I chose this stone for clarity, colour, and balance.
Fit & Sizing
This ring is a size 13. The wide front provides visual strength, while the narrow back reduces bulk. However, sculptural and angular rings can feel different than smooth round bands.

Materials & Care

I form the octagon shape and the two bands first. Next, I build the bezel and fit the smoky quartz between the bands. After that, I heat-treat the silver, set the stone, and polish the ring for a clean finish.
