Opal Pendant – Argentium Silver Sun and Moon with 10K Gold
Description
This Sun and Moon pendant is formed by hand from solid Argentium silver. I melt the silver and work it with a pick until the surface reflects my vision of the Moon. The lunar disc becomes the centre of the piece, with texture shaped through heat and movement rather than tools alone.
Design & Feel
The Moon sits within a surrounding Sun form, creating contrast between surface and edge. I etch the Sun lightly and add small accents of 10K gold, which bring warmth and quiet highlights to the design. At the centre, a polished Ethiopian opal adds soft flashes of colour. Together, the elements feel balanced, symbolic, and calm, with a gentle celestial presence.
Argentium Heat & Finish
After shaping the lunar texture, I heat-treat the pendant to activate the germanium oxide layer in Argentium silver. This step increases hardness and slows tarnish. I then refine the surface so the Moon’s texture, gold accents, and opal remain clearly defined.

Materials & Care
This pendant is made in Argentium Silver 940. Argentium silver is brighter and harder than traditional sterling. In addition, it is nickel-free and slower to tarnish.
