Tourmilated Quartz Pendant – Argentium Silver Wax Seal – Antique
Description
Each melted boulder – also called a “wax seal” – is handmade from Argentium silver. I melt the metal until it is soft but not fluid, then use a jeweller’s pick to move and shape the surface. This creates the uneven form and deep texture that make every pendant unique.
Design & Feel
The design feels grounded and powerful. The antique patina darkens the recessed areas while the raised edges catch light softly. Because of this, the pendant holds a natural contrast between strength and clarity. Each wax-seal form develops its own rhythm and balance.
Argentium Heat & Finish
Because this pendant is made with Argentium silver, I heat-treat it to activate the germanium oxide layer. This step strengthens the silver and slows tarnish. After the heat work, I apply a permanent antique finish that highlights the texture and never needs polishing.
About the Stone
This square-cut Tourmilated Quartz shows fine black tourmaline inclusions inside clear quartz. The sharp contrast of lines within the stone adds structure and movement to the design. I hand-make the bezel to fit the gem precisely, solder it to the silver base, and attach the bail before sealing the surface.
